| Kalpit Ashar is an architect and urbanist based in Mumbai. His involvement with architectural practise is multi dimensional, involving design, research and teaching.
He completed his under graduation from Kamla Raheja institute for architecture, Mumbai. His thesis concerning Urban Marginal was awarded Kamla Raheja Gold Medal and was a part of RIBA web archive for President's Medals Awards 2007, London. Their proposal for Revitalisation of Banganga Crematorium was awarded First national award. He also completed his Masters studies in emergent territories, self sufficient habitats and digital tectonics from Institute for Advanced Architecture, Barcelona.
After graduating he was also involved as a project architect with Charles Correa Associates working on various National & International projects. Through urban research and teaching at Kamla Raheja Institute he has continued his association with academic space.
Currently he is a director at Urban Magic (an urban consultancy and planning) firm and a principal architect at Kalpit Ashar Architects, a young architectural practise involved with Architectural, Urban and Landscape design projects in Mumbai and as a design faculty at Kamla Raheja Institute for Architecture. |
